Understanding Dementia in Dorset
Today, on World Alzheimer’s Day, we reflect on the growing impact of dementia on individuals, families, carers, and communities across Dorset.
There are over 8,800 people on Dorset’s dementia register, with 62% living at home and 82% living with three or more long-term health conditions. While dementia affects just over 1% of Dorset’s total population, this rises to almost 10% of people aged 80 and over.
At the Dorset Intelligence & Insight Service (DiiS), we use intelligence, analytics, and population health insights to help partners better understand the needs of people living with dementia and support more proactive, equitable, and person-centred care.
