James Woodland
James WoodlandChief Digital Information Officer

James is a highly experienced data lead and chief digital information officer with a proven track record of delivering innovative and effective digital solutions in the healthcare sector to promote integrated care. With over 20 years of experience in the public sector and 15 years in healthcare, James has developed a deep understanding of the challenges faced by healthcare providers and has successfully led large-scale digital transformation projects across the NHS. Notable achievements include spearheading the Dorset Intelligence and Insight Service (DiiS) and the Data & Analytics Centre of Excellence (DACOE), which provide professionalisation and training across Hampshire and Dorset.

As the Chief Digital Officer in the NHS, James is responsible for developing and implementing digital strategies, with a particular focus on using data analytics to drive improved patient outcomes. James collaborates closely with healthcare providers to identify areas where technology can improve efficiency, reduce costs, and improve patient care. A passionate advocate for the use of technology to transform healthcare delivery, James is committed to ensuring that the NHS remains at the forefront of digital innovation.

Heather Case
Heather CaseDeputy Director of Data & Analytics

As the Deputy Director of Data and Analytics for Dorset ICB and working across the ICS and its partners. Heather builds and embed a confident data culture within our teams and in turn support positive change for the wider population. Previously as Head of DiiS, Heather has been centrally involved in the service since its infancy, designing data and analytics services for population health, primary care and more widely across the Dorset ICS, its partners and Wessex Cancer Alliance. Heather remains responsible for maintaining and growing the DiiS, ensuring that it remains at the forefront of Dorset’s population wide data and analytics capabilities, whilst supporting local and regional partners to grow their own. Heather has previously worked across a number of organisations in both the public and private sectors from the legalities of British Gas, to the communications and publications of HM Inspectorate of Prisons and delivering data and analytics services to policing and defence.

Matt Prowse
Matt ProwseHead of Business Intelligence

Matt is part of the Dorset Intelligence and Insight (DiiS) senior management team and is primarily responsible for the delivery of business intelligence to Dorset ICB. He has oversight and is accountable for the operational delivery of the service to all aspects of the ICB, spanning acute, mental health, primary and community care. Matt is responsible for service development and ensuring the teams output is supporting our numerous stakeholders make inform decision to develop services and improve the health and well being of Dorset residents. An experienced business intelligence professional with a wealth of experience in numerous roles across the public sector including the police, probation service and NHS. Throughout his career Matt has develop both the technical expertise and interpersonal skills necessary to manage and lead teams to deliver first-class BI services. He is passionate about using data and intelligence to support decision making and ensuring output is used to have a meaningful impact on the operational delivery of services.

Nicola Hilton
Nicola HiltonHead of System Analytics

As Head of System Analytics, Nic is responsible for leading the delivery of changes to data and analytics across all organisations within the Dorset Integrated Care System and beyond, including the design and delivery of Dorset’s approach to population health analytics. As part of the senior leadership team, Nic also takes responsibility for leading the DiiS analytical team, prioritisation management, creating new approaches and designing collaborative opportunities across our system partners.

Nic’s career has spanned both the NHS and local government with an established background in intelligence and analytics. Specialisms include demography, inequalities, and population wider determinants, ensuring our approach is truly holistic when designing interventions and improving population outcomes.

Andy Poole
Andy PooleHead of Data Science

Andy is responsible for leading the data science function for Dorset Intelligence and Insight Service (DiiS). His role is to lead the development and adoption of data science, machine learning and AI across the Integrated Care System (ICS). His focus is on operationalising data science and enabling self serve analytics with interactive cloud based applications. He has helped the team develop a range of solutions for population health management (PHM), cancer, A&E and urgent care with many more solutions in the pipeline. In addition to this Andy has experience of leading research projects and regularly works with a number of local universities. Andy is an experienced data scientist and python developer who specialises in working collaboratively to refine data into actionable insights. He has a wide range of experience across the NHS and financial services industry and is also a chartered accountant (ACMA, CGMA). His technical expertise includes Python, Azure, MLOps, Git and SQL to name but a few. Andy’s passion is in using data, technology and AI to deliver impact where it is needed most.
