In 2023 around 200,000 Dorset pensioners received the winter fuel payment and a cost-of-living payment. In 2024, it is expected that around 20,000 pensioners will be eligible for the Winter Fuel Payment. There are 44,000 Dorset pensioners estimated to be a risk of being financially vulnerable.
Six of the top eight long-term health conditions of Dorset pensioners are identified as being exacerbated by cold weather and present an increased risk of hospital admission.
