We spend much of our time working with complex datasets to understand and improve health outcomes across our communities.<\/p>\n

But on Love Your Pet Day, we\u2019re celebrating another important population \u2014 our pets!<\/p>\n

In 2024 the PDSA<\/strong><\/a> estimated that in the UK there were:<\/p>\n

\ud83d\udc36 10.6 million dogs- 28% of UK adults own a dog.<\/p>\n

\ud83d\udc08 10.8 million cats – 24% of UK adults own a cat.<\/p>\n

\ud83d\ude01\u00a0 91% of pet owners say having a pet improves their life.<\/p>\n

\ud83c\udfc3\u200d\u27a1\ufe0f 71% say owning a pet makes them physically healthier.<\/p>\n

\ud83e\udde0 88% say owning a pet makes them mentally healthier.<\/p>\n

Today we\u2019re sharing a selection of much-loved pets of our Dorset Intelligence & Insight Service (DiiS)<\/strong><\/a> team \u2014 a reminder that behind every dataset are people, and behind many of those people is a very happy dog, cat or fish waiting at home!<\/p>\n
