Understanding Dementia in Dorset<\/strong><\/p>\n

Today, on World Alzheimer’s Day, we reflect on the growing impact of dementia on individuals, families, carers, and communities across Dorset.<\/p>\n

There are over 8,800 people on Dorset’s dementia register<\/strong>, with 62% living at home<\/strong> and 82% living with three or more long-term health conditions<\/strong>. While dementia affects just over 1% of Dorset’s total population<\/strong>, this rises to almost 10% of people aged 80 and over<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

At the Dorset Intelligence & Insight Service (DiiS), we use intelligence, analytics, and population health insights to help partners better understand the needs of people living with dementia and support more proactive, equitable, and person-centred care.<\/p>\n
