What is the APM practitioner qualification?

The APM Practitioner Qualification (APM PQ) is designed for experienced project managers of ‘non complex projects’. By non complex the APM means all but the most complex and challenging projects. The practitioner assessment looks at behaviour and skills in addition to knowledge.

The Chartered Project Professional (ChPP) standard is a professional benchmark that demonstrates attainment of a defined level of technical knowledge, professional practice and ethical behaviour. It forms the basis of the assessment that applicants must pass to gain ChPP status and inclusion on the Register of Chartered Project Professionals.

Who should become a Chartered Project Professional (ChPP)?

ChPP is for anyone that meets the following criteria:

  • Having a proven tack record delivering projects, programmes, portfolios, or a key control or enabling function
  • Having up-to-date knowledge of current practices and methods
  • Being actively involved in the project management profession

While being closely associated to the programme and project management methodologies outlined in MSP® and PRINCE2®, Management of Portfolio (MoP®) targets the management of change that is brought about by formalised project and programme management rather than each singular initiative.

MoP® equips individuals with a set of principles, techniques and practices to establish or re-energise portfolio management. These skills are required by those who are liable for the planning and implementation of change within an organisation. MoP® aids organisations in answering a fundamental question: “are we sure this investment is right for us and how will it contribute to our strategic objectives?”

As an alternative to producing a new discipline, MoP® aims to expand on, and more efficiently coordinate, processes that are already in place such as strategic planning, investment appraisal and project and programme management.

What is Managing Successful Programmes®?

Managing Successful Programmes (MSP)® is a framework for delivering best practice, which provides a guiding set of principles and processes to be used when managing a programme. For more information visit our MSP® training topic page.
