Better Business CasesTM
NHSEI offer training for colleagues to improve their Business Case knowledge and understanding, and gain the Foundation and Practitioner certifications. APMG are the body that HMT appointed under contract to management the Better Business Cases™ Framework of Providers. NHSEI are an APMG Accredited Training Organisation and are strictly regulated by APMG. The Better Business Cases™ guidance is public sector wide, as is the qualification. An official APMG Certification and Digital Badge are provided by NHSEI upon successful completion. Core course content is aligned to the Better Business Cases guidance and APMG’s Quality Management System, however the training is delivered with an NHS context, tailored for NHS applicants
The foundation training is delivered virtually via MS Teams over three days (usually Tuesday to Thursday), with an examination on the final day. The Practitioner module is also delivered via MS Teams over three days, with the examination usually taking place on the fourth day. Delegates are given a practice examination as homework. This course involves recapping the learning from the foundation course, and an application of learning to NHS scenarios. The cost of the Foundation module is £600 per NHS delegate. The cost for the Practitioner module is £800; this fee includes the examination fee. Passing the Foundation module is a prerequisite for taking Practitioner.
Inward Investment team training
The Inward Investment team is developing some training to assist colleagues in the completion of compliant business cases, in alignment to the Better Business Case guidance. We envisage this will be a significantly shorter module, covering the basics of business cases with an opportunity for delegates to ask questions related to the process or aspects of the business case.

Course Overview
Management of Risk (M_o_R®) is a universal framework for risk management spread over all aspects (strategic, programme, project and operational) of an organisation. It encompasses all the required actions needed to determine and control the vulnerability to risk, whether positive or negative, which may influence your organisation’s ability to reach its business objectives.
M_o_R® deals with a broad range of topics such as business continuity management, security, programme/project risk management and operation service management. Some topics are highly specialised and the M_o_R® Foundation course level focuses on the four key elements of the framework and how they aid in corporate governance.
Course Overview
The delivery of Management of Value (MoV®) is achieved through seven key processes and is backed by a multitude of techniques, all of which are established around seven principles. The seven principles, having originated from long-established practice and experience, represent the components most vital in delivering success.
MoV® Foundation is an online course best suited to those individuals who have an involvement in the directing, managing, supporting and delivering of portfolios, programmes and projects. This course teaches students not only about reducing costs, but also about magnifying value in alignment with the programme and project objectives and the requisites of the key stakeholder.
The Scrum methodology complements what is referred to as the agile approach to project management – a means of “breaking down large projects into more management tasks, which are completed in short iterations throughout the project lifecycle”. The Scrum framework relies on constant collaboration, so teams can easily complete a task within an allotted time before moving on to the next project phase.
