Derek began his career as a microbiologist in the NHS before moving into the medical diagnostics and devices industry, where he held a number of international marketing, product and business development and senior leadership positions, in companies ranging from start-ups to SME manufacturing companies to multinationals.

After moving into business consultancy, Derek worked with NHS Innovations, providing innovation and commercial support to NHS organisations, including UHD and DCH, and brings this broad commercial and innovation experience to the role of Innovation Programme Manager within the ICS Innovation Hub.
