Kim is Evidence Based Policing & Innovation Detective Sergeant for Dorset Police.

Kim has been a police officer with Dorset Police for ten years and her operational career has focused on front line policing, serious sexual offences, child abuse, child exploitation, human trafficking and wider public protection. Kim’s interest in public protection and evidence-based policing has led her to embark on a PhD in conjunction with the Centre of Policing Research & Learning focusing on ‘online-dating initiated sexual offending.’

Kim is passionate about the continual improvement of policing methods with an aim of protecting the public and making Dorset safer, utilising innovative solutions to ensure policing keeps up with emerging technologies and shifts in culture.

Kim has supported the implementation of a number of innovative solutions in policing across England & Wales during her time as ‘National Innovation Coordinator’ at the College of Policing. In addition to supervising innovation locally for Dorset Police, Kim has worked on a national level to support and encourage innovation in policing through engagement with police forces, the Home Office and National Police Chiefs Council.
