This case study has been provided by BU PIER (Public Involvement in Education and Research) and the Lantern Trust.

‘Learning Lunch’ grew out of the “I am more than…” project, which was part of the Dorset Research Engagement Network (REN) programme.  “I am more than…'” was set up to better understand what being involved in research means to those with lived experience of homelessness or being vulnerably housed; and to co-create opportunities to be involved in ways they would want in health and social care research, policy and practice.

The ‘Learning Lunch’ represented an opportunity to go beyond REN and create a shared space for Lantern Trust customers and Dorset Council housing staff to engage outside the usual constraints of the system – an opportunity to share food and connect on a human level.

The case study describes the format and activities undertaken within the ‘Learning Lunch’ session, together with impact, learning gained, and next steps.
