University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust has a major transformation and development plan for its hospital sites. This includes developing the Royal Bournemouth Hospital as the major emergency care centre for east Dorset, including a new emergency department; maternity and children’s unit; critical care unit and a purpose-designed pathology hub providing a modern, flexible testing capacity.

Poole Hospital will become the area’s major planned care hospital with a new state-of-the-art theatre complex; urgent treatment centre; expanded day case surgery; enhanced outpatient, cancer and diagnostic services as well as an innovative new community hub.

At Christchurch Hospital there are ambitious plans to support the ongoing treatment of its patients, including new charity funded Macmillan Unit as well as options to create a senior living community, with affordable shared ownership housing.
