This page brings together events happening across Dorset for Carers’ Rights Day 2025. Local organisations have arranged these FREE events to celebrate unpaid carers and offer practical support, advice, and guidance. You’ll also find information on your rights as a carer, details of local support services, and ways to get involved.

Carers’ Rights Day happens every year across the UK. In 2025 it is on 20 November. The aim is simple, to make sure you know your rights as a Carer and can use them with confidence. You have a right to:

  • Unpaid Carer’s leave
  • Flexible working
  • Asking your GP to identify you as a Carer
  • Protection from discrimination
  • Free flu jabs
  • Requesting a carer’s assessment
  • Being involved in hospital discharge planning

What’s on

Organisations in Dorset are running FREE events for you to get involved in. See what events are happening across Dorset on Carers Rights Day 2025:

Some of the events are in person and some are online.  If you’d like to come to an event but getting there feels difficult because of transport or accessibility, please get in touch with us at hello@helpandkindness.co.uk or call 01305 595958. We can talk through what support might be possible. While we can’t guarantee support in every case, we will do our best to help.

See what carers have said about previous events we have run:

Your rights as a Carer

These rights exist to support you. Knowing your rights, and how to use them, can help you feel confident asking for what you need. It can also empower you to challenge things when your rights are not being met – whether that be in the workplace or education, in accessing health or social care, when interacting with other professionals or at home. You have a right to support, and you’re not on your own. We have created bespoke advice and guidance for Carers in Dorset around each of these recognised rights:

Accessing support

There’s a wide range of support to help you in your caring role. This support is available all year, not just during the campaign. Visit our main carer support page on Our Dorset to find information, advice, and services for carers across Dorset:
