A carer is a person of any age, who provides unpaid help and support to a person who could not manage without this help and support. They make an enormous contribution to society and saving the economy billions of pounds.

The Pan Dorset Carers Steering Group is a strategic group consisting of carers, voluntary and community sector organisations, local authorities and health organisations who collaborate to shape services for carers in Dorset. We worked together to create a shared vision 5 years ago ‘Valuing Carers in Dorset’ and have since been working on supporting and monitoring progress made towards it.

The Pan Dorset Carers Steering Group is now reviewing and updating this strategic vision and we are looking to strengthen and increase our carer representation to help us with this project and beyond.

We are now looking to recruit carers of a range of ages, locations and experiences who can represent the views of carers, using their own life experience as well as representing the collective voice of carers. If you would like any further information, please contact Carer Support Dorset if you are in the Dorset Council area on 0800 368 8349, or CRISP if you are in the BCP Council area on 01202 128 787. Alternatively, you can email us at: pandorsetCSG@bcpcouncil.gov.uk
